Class 1 (Nodes): Core network infrastructure (routers, Multiprotocol Label Switching [MPLS] switches, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing [DWDM] transport shelves, microwave backhaul radios, core firewalls).

Class 2 (Physical Plant & FAN): DC rectifiers, battery plants, substation Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), environmental monitors, and Field Area Network (FAN) access points.

Class 3 (Client & Endpoint Devices): Smart meters (Advanced Metering Infrastructure [AMI]), distribution reclosers, private Long-Term Evolution Customer Premises Equipment (LTE CPE) modems, Wi-Fi access points, and remote field sensors.
