Creating Sites

The organizational architecture of the application is centered around network sites. Sites house groupings of devices that have some sort of relationship with each other (e.g., the same geographic location, or link to a common switch or router). Like the device types, these can be set up two different ways one-by-one, or as a bulk add of sites.

Creating Individual Sites

1. Select the "Administration" menu.

2. Select "Sites"

3. Select "Sites List" from the sub-menu. This will take you to the list of sites where you can add a new individual site.

4. Once you are on the Site list, select the "Add Site" button to open up the site creation form.

5. Once you open up the form, you can fill out the site details. The only required field is the site name. The other fields allow you to add details about the site, such as the physical address and/or the latitude and longitude of the site.

6. After filling out the required "Name" field and any other applicable fields, you can select the "Save" button. Your new site will now show up in the site list. You might also notice that like the "Device Type" creation process, there is also a "Bulk Add" button below that can take you to that screen. This same option is available directly through the "Administration" menu, which will be covered in the next section.

Bulk Adding Sites

1. Select the "Administration" menu.

2. Select "Sites"

3. Select the "Bulk Add" sub-menu.

4. Once you are in the bulk add section, select the "Download Template" button. A ..csv will download onto your computer.

5. The bulk add template will have the following fields. The only required field is the “Name.” All other fields are optional.

*Required Field

6. Once you have filled out your sites template, select the "Choose File" button and locate the saved file with your site data on your computer.

7. Once selected, the template will load your bulk site data. If there are any errors with the data, the row will be highlighted and a note will be added under the "Row Status" column. Note: the only required field is the "Name" field.

8. If you need to remedy any errors with your data, you can export the data with the included "Row Status" column, which will detail where the failure was detected, making it easier to remedy any issues with your bulk add. Once you have addressed the issues, you can refresh the page and reupload the remedied site bulk add file.

9. After you have successfully uploaded your site bulk add without errors, you can now select the "Save" button. Your sites will now show up in the main "Sites List."

You are now ready to begin adding devices now that you have defined your device types and sites, as these are required elements for the individual device creation and bulk add.
